I have read Senator Obama's plan for America. In it he claims that he is change. I thought that change meant moving from one philosophy to a completely new philosophy. From what I see, the problem with the United States today is the government. We have too much government taxation, regulation, planning, and interference. We have had this for decades. The modern day big government began almost a hundred years ago with Woodrow Wilson and FDR in the 1920s and 1930s. It picked up steam through the years with LBJ and the Great Society and pretty much hasn't stopped since. The government increases its spending year after year. The debt increases year after year. It is neither solely a Republican nor Democrat problem. They both are very good at buying votes from people who are willing to sell their freedom for a bowl of porridge. Democratic Presidents and Congresses gave us social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare. Republicans gave us big military spending. Both have in many ways ruined much of what made America great which was freedom and liberty. And now Barack comes along and says he offers us change, but his change is nothing more than more government. That isn't change. That is nothing more than the same. You can call a leopard a lion all you want, but it will always be a lion. Barack and his campaign can call the same old politics the politics of change but it doesn't make it change. If you doubt me, just read his plan yourself. It hammers businesses and seeks to increase government. In other words, he seeks to curtail our liberty and freedom by increasing the size and scope of government. He offers us security in exchange for our liberty. That, my friends, is the same bargain that the peasants made with Lenin many years ago, that the Chinese made with Mao, which all people who have suffered under terrible governments often make, only to wish that they never made that bargain. Any people that are willing to give up liberty and freedom for security deserve neither and in the end will have neither. Isn't that what Benjamin Franklin said over two centuries ago. Why can't people see that Barack offers nothing new?
